Now this is important stuff

Okay. So according to a report in the Durango Herald this morning, this is one of the house bills our legislators in Denver have been working on:

"House Bill 1147 would designate the Western tiger salamander as the official state amphibian – not to be confused with the official state reptile, which is the Western painted turtle."

Wow. Wonder how much time, effort and money was spent on that.

At least they didn't choose a newt.

  1. That's too funny! How soon before they start working on a bill regarding appropriate attire for senior pictures? (press sarcasm button) lol
    Take care,

    1. Ha! This town is too small for me to write a post about the portrait debacle (according to facebook, her mom and I have 19 mutual friends, and I've met her dad too), but let me say this: The Colorado student press law allows the editors final say. Period. No law was broken; there's really nothing to stand up for. As for the photo itself, it's not outrageous and pornographic and all the other scathing things people wrote about it in papers and on the Today Show website. Appropriate for a yearbook? Not my business; that's for the editors to decide. Did this girl deserve the blasting she's received for it? Absolutely not. It brought out the ugly in people. I think she'll grow from the experience though. A thick skin if nothing else, and that's always useful in life.
